The Bruins last traveled across the country to Virginia in 2014, arose at dawn on their body clocks and started in lunch hour. They beat the Cavaliers, but only by a touchdown as 18-point favorites against a soft foe. The Tigers are a pass-oriented team that proved they can run, too, while coping with high winds in their opener. They lost three defensive players to injuries that day but, with a sudden bye week because of Irma, were afforded time to game-plan for the defensively suspect team from Pacific time territory.

Memphis has not played in 16 days because of Hurricane Irma. The rest might have been a good thing later in the season, but early on, I think it hurts. Most teams make their most improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. UCLA outscored Texas A&M 28-0 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 45-44 win, then beat Hawaii 56-23. SO the Bruins have outscored their opponents 84-23 in the past five quarters. Look for Josh Rosen and company to roll in this one.
