I've always felt Tennessee head coach Butch Jones was conservative. His offenses score big points against average to below-average defenses, not elite defenses. His plays per game rate is just average. He's 16-10 to the Under at Tennessee. Jim McElwain was a former assistant to Nick Saban at Alabama. McElwain stayed true to form with just 65 plays per game last year. He loves the power running game, taking care of the football and keeping his defense fresh. McElwain is 17-10 to the Under in his first two years as the head coach of the Gators. I think the number of plays in this game will be very low and the game will be close. Go Under.
I love the Volunteeers getting points in Gainesville on Saturday, as they're covering 63 percent of my simulations. In fact, I'm projecting a Tennessee win, in a nailbiter. Early money has come in on the Vols, which I agree with. The road team is 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings of this bitter rivalry.
The Gators might not have their suspended players back in the fold, but they will be looking to give their fans something to cheer about in the wake of Hurricane Irma, which canceled last week's tune-up game against Northern Colorado. But the extended layoff, combined with playing a confident Vols team, doesn't bode well for Florida's ability to cover. Grab the points.
