This may seem like a lot of points to lay with the Lobos, who have lost two in a row following a 48-21 rout of South Dakota in their season opener. But those two losses were decided by a total of 10 points and could have gone either way. San Jose State is a terrible team that's giving up nearly 40 points and more than 480 yards per game, and New Mexico should have no problem covering. My simulations give New Mexico a 62 percent chance of cashing.
This line keeps climbing, for good reason. There's a real chance San Jose State will be without starting senior quarterback Kenny Potter, who missed last Saturday's game with a leg injury. In his place, freshman Josh Love threw four INTs in a 44-10 loss to Iowa State. The MRI on Potter showed more damage than originally thought. Even if he plays, Potter won't be his normal self (he accounted for 22 TDs and seven INTs as a junior). The Lobos are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 games off a bye, and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a SU loss.
