I've chronicles why I like Nevin in this spot and in this series quite a bit. A's will be stealing on these catchers, Rodgers tends to lose his command and I expect Nevin to be in position to drive in runs today

This kid is hot, this big ballpark will lead to a lot of doubles for him and he is destroying LHP. Nevin has 3 HRs in 29 ABs vs lefties and he's batting .310 with an OPS of 1.055. He has an OPS north of 1000 at home and is looking like a solid run producer in the middle of this upstart lineup. Righties are batting .287 vs Rodgers. I also like Nevin to do damage against this bullpen that relies on high-leverage lefties

So Miami already had a terrible lineup and then they traded their most professional hitter. Yuck. They can't score or catch or pitch. This is a big homestand for the A's and I love how they are pitching and Blackburn has come back to earth after a Cy Young first 4 starts but he is still damn good with a top 5 bullpen behind him. Be careful with Josh Bell and go after everyone else. Oakland defense is much improved from the start of the season, too. Marlins have lost on the run line in all 6 of Rodgers starts, outscored 35-12. They have scored 5 runs in his last 5 starts

The Marlins' lineup got so much weaker with the Luis Arraez trade. It's like the new Rebel Wilson. Thin. Blackburn has come way back to earth after a crazy start but I think 6 IP, 2 ER sounds about right. I will always do runs instead of innings (17.5) if moderately close simply as an injury and I win.

Things I didn't think I would do this MLB season: Breakdance (tried the Andy from the Office, also didn't go well and also involved keys), realize that Jose Canseco's daughter is dating Johnny Manziel or back the A's. But the Marlins just said goodbye in 2024 by trading two-time batting champion Luis Arraez to San Diego. If the Fish were playing anyone else Saturday (non-White Sox), I'd make a dangerously large bet.
