Have to say that in most cases I wouldn't dream of playing the Royals this high on the road but that's how bad the White Sox are. This is Game 1 of a doubleheader. KC's Brady Singer has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the AL in the early going. Red-hot Salvador Perez was going to miss Tuesday's game banged up but is in there for the opener and even catching. Thought he might need to DH for a bit.

I was on this play yesterday before this game was postponed, and I'm sticking with it here. Pasquantino has been locked in as of late, going 10 for 18 with three doubles and three homers in his last five games after a 4-for-37 start to the season. Jonathan Cannon, who is making his MLB debut, posted a 5.77 ERA in 11 Double-A starts last year but has been hurried to the majors after posting a 2.77 ERA in three Triple-A starts but with 10 hits and five walks in just 9.2 innings. This is a great matchup for Vinnie P and I like him to get 2+ bases today.

The White Sox are 2-14 and have been shut out six times. They've also scored exactly one run three times, so that's more than half their games with 0-1 runs. They average 2.13 runs per game. Brady Singer is on the hill for the Royals with a 0.98 ERA and a rested bullpen behind him. The White Sox are pitching Jonathan Cannon, making his MLB debut and the Royals have had a quality offense. This shouldn't be close, so we're playing the run line (-1.5, -120).

Not sure why Marty wasn't for props available early yesterday, but it ended up not mattering as the game was postponed -- thus a doubleheader today. So Maldonado won't play both games. I tend to think he plays the first one because Maldonado is a good catcher and the team would want him back there to handle rookie pitcher Jonathan Cannon in his MLB debut.

Let's try this one again as we were going to do on Tuesday before the rains hit Chicago. Nothing has changed in the last 24 hours that has made us more fearful of the Chisox, in the midst of one of the worst offensive starts in MLB annals, already blanked six times in sixteen games, which hasn't happened in the bigs since the Brooklyn Superbas (before they were the Dodgers) suffered the same fate...in 1907. The Pale Hose are also 0-5 thus far against the Royals, who have outscored Chicago 22-5, and KC starter Brady Singer is looking like an early AL Cy Young candidate, spinning an 0.98 ERA thru his first three starts.
