We break down the odds for the Mexico Open and look for the best early value plays

After a dramatic West Coast swing that included major champions like Hideki Matsuyama and Wyndham Clark, the PGA Tour heads south for the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta. While we have been spoiled with stacked fields at tournaments like the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational, the Mexico Open will feature few stars of the game.

Defending champion Tony Finau headlines the action at +650 and will look to run through a relatively weak field by the PGA Tour's standards. Only Nicolai Hojgaard and Emiliano Grillo can be found at or below +2000, as oddsmakers are giving plenty of respect to the American.

Because of the wide-open nature of this event, the PGA Tour's string of longshot winners should have a great chance to continue. While Matsuyama went off at +8000 at Riviera a week ago, he went into the final round as long as +130000 as he overcame a six-stroke deficit en route to victory. Something similar may unfold at Vidanta Vallarta, where bombers and good putters tend to find the most success.
