The Steve Asmussen-trained Echo Zulu can clinch champion 2-year-old filly honors when she leaves the starting gate in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies on Friday at Del Mar in Del Mar, Calif. The two-time Grade 1 winner has been installed as the 4-5 morning-line favorite in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies odds. Post time is 6:30 p.m. ET. Before you make any Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies picks, you NEED to see what handicapping wunderkind Matt Bernier has to say.

Bernier is one of the country's most recognizable horse racing analysts. An on-air contributor to NBC's horse racing telecasts and the host of The Matt Bernier Show podcast, Bernier first gained renown in 2013 when, at 23 years old, he became the youngest qualifier at the time to qualify for the National Horseplayers Championship. Two of his biggest scores came in 2014. In the prestigious Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge that year Bernier finished sixth, earning $61,000 for the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance charity. Later that year he won $40,000 after winning the Aqueduct handicapping championship.

This year's Juvenile Fillies has drawn one of the smallest fields in Breeders' Cup history. Just six horses have entered this year's race; since the Breeders' Cup began in 1984, only one race -- the 2012 Juvenile Sprint, which drew five runners -- has attracted fewer. And just three other races have drawn exactly six. (Saturday's Filly & Mare Sprint also has six.)

Now, Bernier has handicapped the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies field, made his picks and constructed his bets.

One shocker: Bernier is completely tossing Echo Zulu, even though she is the overwhelming 4-5 morning-line favorite. "Friday's race will mark the first time Echo Zulu has ever raced outside of New York, as well as mark the first time she's ever navigated a race of two turns," Bernier tells SportsLine. Bernier is not using Echo Zulu in his wagering.

Instead, Bernier's top pick is a filly who has an "ability to sit and pass horses." Bernier is including this filly in his 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies wagering, and so should you. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his analysis before locking in any of your own.
