JHicks is an underrated commodity and I simply don’t trust the Rockies. Let’s play a fairly reasonable number….
Los Gigantes need to stack every win they can get vs lesser teams (there aren't that many around) and Hickes only threw four innings last time out against a relentless Phillies lineup (4 walks), but the chore is much different here against the lowly Rockies, who will chase plenty of elevated fastballs they cant reach. Hicks has gone over 5 innings with some regularity and could easily finish 6 against this lineup.
Los Gigantes stopper is a former closer who has been one of the best pitchers in the NL so far this season. The experiment is showing no signs of fading with Hicks holding his velo and getting swing-and-miss with secondaries as well. I don't trust the Giants to score a ton, even in the altitude of Coors, however, and don't like their pen all that much, so let's shorter the game here against the Rockies starter, who is not good.
Jordan Hicks has had a nice season and this number is simply too low against the Rockies, even in a hitter friendly environment like Coors Field. He will face a Colorado lineup that has a whopping 28.3% K Rate versus opposing right handed pitchers this season. I would also argue that Hicks is running cold on strikeouts and is a positive regression candidate considering he is averaging the lowest K Rate of his career, despite his metrics being in line with his career averages.
Some less than stellar strikeout performances of late have kept Jordan Hick's line really low here at only 3.5... He should easily be able to strike out four batters with his stuff and I'm not going to allow a letdown last time out stop me from playing the over against a Rockies lineup that's yielding the third most strikeouts vs righties this season and has kept it up of late. Played at -125 on DK. Lookout for my article on SL later today with more on this, as I also played a ladder here; 5 Ks (+140 Caesars), 6 Ks (+270), 7 Ks (+575).
