KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi made two diving saves in the second half and stopped a late shot by Freddy Adu on Saturday, helping the Wizards to a scoreless tie with D.C. United in a rematch of last season's MLS Cup finalists.
Christian Gomez had two scoring chances for defending league champion D.C. United in the first half. His shot from 8 yards was headed off the goal line by defender Jimmy Conrad. Moments later, Oshoniyi made a diving save on a header by Gomez.
The Wizards, who managed just one shot in the first half, had their best scoring chance in the second half when Josh Wolff unleashed a long shot, but D.C. keeper Nick Rimando made the save.
Oshoniyi, who finished with five saves, preserved the tie with late diving saves on shots by Gomez and Bobby Boswell. Adu, who entered as a sub in the 77th minute, got a shot on goal in extra time, but Oshoniyi made the save.
