Week 2 - Sunday, Sep. 18, 2005
Minnesota 28 *Cincinnati 27 -- The Vikings possess one of the league's most potent offenses. However, the Bengals continue to improve on both sides of the ball under coach Marvin Lewis.
*Indianapolis 25 Jacksonville 18 -- There is no stopping the Colts' hard-charging offense, which scored a league-best 522 points last season. With all the pieces still in place, the Colts should gallop to victory.
*Philadelphia 27 San Francisco 12 -- Everything points in the Eagles' favor in this game. Philadelphia has a better offense and defense, and it possesses home-field advantage.
Buffalo 24 *Tampa Bay 23 -- It's always difficult to come into Raymond James Stadium and focus amid the sea of Pewter and Black. Buffalo's ability to sustain a ground attack will come into play in this game.
Pittsburgh 18 *Houston 17 -- The Steelers have one of the league's top defenses, which means the team will have to be at the top of its game in order to edge the improved Texans at home.
Baltimore 23 *Tennessee 17 -- The Ravens' defense is one of the most feared in the NFL, and will surely make things difficult for a Titans team that experienced a lot of turnovers in the offseason.
Detroit 21 *Chicago 20 -- This black-and-blue divisional matchup should be fun to watch. Detroit's improved offense and Chicago's quarterback situation could be the key factors in this game.
New England 25 *Carolina 19 -- New England is solid on both offense and defense, and has most of its components intact. Home-field advantage may not be enough for Carolina, which struggled on defense last season.
*Arizona 28 St. Louis 27 -- A lot of folks seem to believe that Dennis Green has Arizona headed in the right direction. A win over a divisional rival like St. Louis will reinforce that notion.
Atlanta 21 *Seattle 20 -- It's always difficult to travel from the East to the West, or vice-versa, but Michael Vick and the Falcons will be primed and ready to go when the whistle blows.
*NY Jets 21 Miami 14 -- The Jets have had much success in recent seasons against hated rival Miami. Home-field advantage will play of big part in this contest.
San Diego 24 *Denver 23 -- Opposing teams will be gunning for San Diego this season, which will look to prove against Denver that the 2004 season was not a fluke. LaDainian Tomlinson could be the difference.
*Green Bay 24 Cleveland 17 -- The Packers haven't been as dominant at Lambeau Field in recent seasons as they were in the 1990s, but hosting Cleveland in the team's home-opener bodes in Green Bay's favor.
Kansas City 29 *Oakland 28 -- The Chiefs have an explosive offense and they'll need to operate at full strength in Oakland against receiver Randy Moss's Raiders in this offensive-sided game.
Week 2 - Monday, Sep. 19, 2005
NY Giants 20 *New Orleans 19 -- The whole complexion of this game changes following the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. When these two teams meet on the field, it'll be all business.
Washington 19 *Dallas 16 -- The Redskins are benefitting from a "soft" opening to the season, including this second-week matchup against Divisional rival Dallas.
