Prisco: Bad move Jets
So now we have a two-team race in the AFC East, right?
Uh, not so fast.
While the New York Jets made headlines with the acquisition of Brett Favre, I'm not so sure they've made all that much headway on the defending division champs. Sure, they needed a quarterback, but how much can Favre do for them?

Then there's the head coach. One guy has been to four Super Bowls; the other hasn't won a playoff game.
I think you get the idea.
The Jets went into this season believing they made all the right moves but one and that they were a quarterback away from returning to the playoffs -- which is why they were so hot to trot for Favre. But somebody look up the guy's record: Yes, he was marvelous last year, but tell me what he did in 2006 and 2005.
Don't bother. I know. Nothing. He threw 38 touchdowns and 47 interceptions and produced two of his three worst passer ratings ever since taking over as the Packers' starter.
Worse, he was 12-20. So let's do the math: The guy's 38 and in two of his last three seasons he was underwhelming -- and that's being kind.
I guess what I'm saying, Jets fans, is that there's no guarantee Favre will be anything close to the quarterback he was last year when he carried the Packers to the NFC Championship Game. He's in a new city, with new coaches, new receivers and a new system -- but with the same ol' expectations.
Now he has one month to cram for a final exam, and, I don't know about you, but color me skeptical.
Putting Favre in the AFC makes perfect sense for Green Bay because the Packers don't have to see him again. Had they dealt him to Tampa Bay he would've appeared on the schedule Sept. 26 and, possibly, again in the playoffs.
But I don't know that Favre would've gotten the Buccaneers that far. As I said, there are no guarantees with him anymore, other than an astounding record of consecutive starts. Look, I love watching the guy, too, but when he's on top of his game. And he hasn't been on top of his game in two of the last three seasons.
