Chris Sale has the best stuff in MLB. Edwin Encarnacion is the only hitter in the Mariners lineup to give Sale any trouble at all. Sale will not let Encarnacion beat him, as the rest of the team is 7-for-67 against Sale. Seattle starter Marco Gonzales has great stuff, but it does not look like he is ready for the 2019 season. Gonzales threw 13 1/2 innings in spring training, allowing 21 hits and 14 earned runs. In his start versus Oakland in Japan, he gave up seven hits and four earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings.
