Landis became the 3rd American after Greg Lemond and Lance Armstrong to win the Tour de France. However, a doping test during the Tour revealed high levels of testosterone in his system. The B sample will now be tested.
He was the fifth American (Greg Lemond, Lance Armstrong, David Zabriskie and George Hincapie) to wear the overall leader's yellow jersey.
