Regardless of outcome, Harrison has already misfired

Marvin Harrison allegedly owns a Belgian Fabrique Nationale 5.7 firearm. Previously when I thought Belgian, I thought waffles. No longer. They apparently make both delicious pastries and potent little weapons.

Marvin Harrison will face more scorn simply for having such a gun as a pro athlete. (US Presswire)

"In November (2005) the Homeland Security Department issued an 'Officer Safety Alert' regarding the (BFN 5.7) with the headline 'body armor defeating handgun,'" reported the Associated Press. "The alert said the Trumbull, Conn., police department had seized such a pistol and noted that its bullets were 'advertised as being able to penetrate 48 layers of Kevlar at 50 meters.'"

Why exactly would a civilian need such a weapon?

To take down Ironman?

From the website enemyforces.com: "The "Five-seveN" Self-loading Pistol is a new generation and conception weapon. Technically it is classified as an ordinary submachine gun but tactically it is a Personal Defense Weapon. To remind: the PD Weapons are mainly used by drivers, staff personnel, artillery crew, and other second line soldiers ..."

Artillery crew? Apparently Harrison was preparing to do battle with a Romulan warbird.

And: "Cartridge recoil power is threefold lower than the standard NATO 5.56 x 45 mm (.223 Rem) cartridges."

It's not often you're going to see the words "NATO" and "Marvin Harrison" in the same sentence.

"It doesn't take much imagination to see this cartridge changing the direction of law enforcement weaponry in the new millennium," wrote American Handgunner about the BFN. "The Five-seveN might well serve as standard issue for officers in a crowded urban setting and the P-90 could be used by special teams and thus retain commonality of ammunition."

And by "special teams" I'm assuming they don't mean punt return coverage.

Does it bother anyone that an NFL player allegedly owns a gun in which its main attraction to potential buyers is the fact its ammunition can penetrate body armor? Body armor most times worn by police?

Don't get your guntotin' panties in a bunch. It's just a question.

And please stop waving the Second Amendment in my face like it's a ticket to a Springsteen concert. Nobody's trying to take your gat away.

The Colts are trying to steal the Bengals thunder as the team with the most criminals.  If the Colts continue their crime spree, then the Bengals will have to up the ante and re-consider signing All-Pro Criminal Chirs Henry and look at trading for a few more All-Pro criminals like Michael Vick.

COnsidering that the amendment was made over 200 years ago when the sountry fought with muskets and cannons, maybe we should just get rid of it in genral.  I for one dont own a gun and dont think that i would be safer if i did.  Maybe all the guns in this country are the problem.  I t went form owning a 6 shooter to who has the most assault rifles in their collection.

I guess I'll do it, since Mr. Freeman seems pretty balanced on questions of race - why, oh why, African-America, are your young men so entranced by the gangster lifestyle?  Why can't a millionaire stay home with his family and avoid the local dive where nothing good ever happens?  Why do millionaire African-American consistently fall for the old misinformed adage that money puts ...(more)

Okay, so criminals can get hold of illegal weapons. Don't you think they also could get Kevlar vests? Why give the bad guys an advantage?

alright let me start off by saying that i've spent two years in the reserves thus far, and i do own guns.

i own 2 desert eagles, a couple of sniper rifles, and about half a dozen rifles of different sorts. what do i use them for? i collect guns, and i hunt occasionally. i'm also a manager at a local pool store. so if there is a robbery nearby, that means that i'm an imme

This is just horrible. Marvin Harrison, thought to be one of the best, genuine, good WR's in the NFL is involved in a shooting in some way.

He may have had nothing to do with the shooting, but the fact that his armour piercing gun somehow got into the wrong hands is bad enough..

Commisioner Goodell's gonna have a plate full before training camp starts. What a black eye for the league.... again! I guess if it can happen to Marvin Harrison it can happen to anyone.

You seem to overlook the fact that it is much more likely that you will encounter a criminal wearing body armour than a police officer wearing body armour.

So what if Marvin Harrison owns a top of the line pistol? I own one too, i bought it when it first came out. People lineup to buy X-BOX games when they come out, people who own guns and enjoy owning guns for recreation and person

Okay - so Harrison owns a gun that can potentially do a lot of damage. Question - has he been charged with anything? Answer - No. Question - is Harrison the type who frequents strip-clubs, seedy bars or other questionable establishments? Answer - No (at least, not that I know of, or have ever heard of.) Question - does Harrison have a reputation of being in trouble with the law? Answer - No ...(more)

The problem is not with gun ownership by professional athletes, it is about decision making skills (or lack thereof).  The old addage "wrong place at the wrong time" seems to universally apply to these overpaid knuckleheads.  As someone on another message board plainly stated, with that kind of money at stake, you would think they would find better places to hang out in th ...(more)

My bet is that the majority of Bar owners not only have guns but carry them. I sure as hell would if I owned a Bar after some of the crazy s**t I’ve seen.
