Virginia Tech opened as a surprising three-point favorite, but the spread has done an about-face and the Hurricanes are now favored. But I think oddsmakers had it right in the first place. The Hokies have the No. 2 scoring defense in the country to go along with a potent offense. Look for them to get the best of a Miami team that has held on for dear life in wins over Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina.

Miami has not covered ATS in its last three games and for good reason -- the Hurricanes are not that good. No disrespect is meant here, but Miami has skated by with its best win of the season coming at Duke. The homefield advantage is not so great inside Hard Rock Stadium, and I believe Virginia Tech to be the more talented team top to bottom. This is a big spot for the Canes in the national spotlight, but the Hokies should be up to the challenge. I believe in Josh Jackson.

Virginia Tech has played mostly poor offenses. In their only two games against Top-75 offenses, the Hokies allowed 27.5 points per game. The Hurricanes are in the same boat, allowing 30 to Toledo and 24 to Georgia Tech -- the only Top-50 offenses they've faced. Virginia Tech scores more on the road and allows more points on road than it does at home. Miami scores more at home and allows more points at home than it does on the road. This is a huge game for both teams, and I expect each offense to answer when the other scores. The defenses are solid, not outstanding, and they're facing pretty good attacks. Go Over.
