Bill Snyder, K-State’s septuagenarian coach, carries the reputation of an upset master. One would be pulled off here with a QB in his first start. Alex Delton, stepping in for Jesse Ertz (knee), is a run-minded type. However, the Horned Frogs have the most penurious rush defense in the Big 12 at 3.0 yards allowed per try and just four touchdowns. Delton must throw, with which he has minimal college experience. Predicted rain and high winds could complicate the task. It’s too much to ask of a newcomer as TCU draws closer to a playoff berth.
Senior quarterback Jesse Ertz is out injured, but backup Alex Delton might be the more explosive of Kansas State’s Dual-threat quarterbacks. The sophomore came off the bench in place of the injured Ertz last Saturday and looked impressive in the overtime loss to Texas. He is capable of giving the TCU defense fits, and the Horned Frogs could be in a letdown spot after they survived a one-score game against West Virginia last week. Kansas State should be alive underdog in this one.
TCU is a strong defensive team and is more than capable of handling K-State in the trenches. The Frogs will eventually force K-State to make plays in the passing game, and I don't think the Wildcats can.
