Christian McCaffrey isn't going to run for 243 yards and four TDs like he did last year against UCLA. Not with the Bruins much improved on defense, as they showed in last week's 17-14 win over BYU. I'll still back the better-coached team that's won eight straight in the series. The Cardinal also get a boost from the return of nose tackle Harrison Phillips, who missed last week's 27-10 win over USC with a knee injury.

Stanford has beaten UCLA the past eight meetings and covered the number in seven of them. The Bruins come in having played below their rating in all three games and failing to cover the number. In fact, dating back to the end of last season , UCLA has gone 0-5 ATS. Stanford won 56-35 last season as 7-point home favorites, but don't expect a score like that Saturday with QB Ryan Burns still finding his stride in the system, which is obviously made easier by just getting Christian McCaffrey the ball.
