Quick Take
In order for IRL and Champ Car unification to come to fruition, the two groups had to agree to a allow a rather unusual race weekend on the schedule. On April 20, the former Champ Car teams will run one final race in their old equipment at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Meanwhile, the IndyCar race in Japan will go on as scheduled on the same weekend. But points earned at both events will count toward the IndyCar Series championship.
