The Jets were darned fortunate to get out of the first round vs. the Blues but we suspect they used up all of their good fortune vs. St. Louis. True, home has proven a plus this postseason for Connor Hellebuyck & Co, but worth noting that Dallas did break the code in Game One to steal the important home-ice edge, which really is a big deal involving Winnipeg as it can't win on the road. Another plus for the Stars is the return of key defender Miro Heiskanen, and Jake Oettinger is as likely to steal a win in goal in this series as Hellebuyck. Taking out Colorado in the first round suggests Dallas up to the task. Play Stars on Money Line
It's no secret that Connor Hellebuyck has performed much better in goal at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg than on the road in the playoffs, likely to be reflected in another scoreline tonight vs. Dallas. Scorelines... we've had eight of those this season between these two, and seven of those have landed on five goals or fewer (all under results), including Tuesday's Ggame 4 which Dallas won 3-1 in Big D behind another big effort in goal from Jake Oettinger, who steered aside 31 or the 32 shots he faced. With Hellebuyck's better playoff numbers at home, Oettinger's prowess, and series trends, we'd rather respect the past results, with five goals the usual demarcation point between these two. Play Stars-Jets Under
The Jets’ playoff road woes continued when they dropped both games in Dallas. Winnipeg is now 0-5 away from home this postseason, getting out-scored 25-8. Luckily for the Jets, they return home for Game 6 where Winnipeg is 35-8-4 this season. Jets’ goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is happy to be back on home ice. Hellebuyck has been shelled on the road in the playoffs, but is 5-1 with a 1.99 goals against at Canada Life Centre. Winnipeg is getting killed on the power play in this series (1-of-16) but they have played well in 5-on-5. I expect a big effort from Hellebuyck and the Jets in a must-win game at home. I think Winnipeg forces a Game 6.
