Terry McLaurin projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, Washington Commanders player profile, season outlook, simulations

McLaurin has been a consistent performer in his three NFL seasons and looks to take another step forward with improved QB play

When it comes to playing with quality NFL starting quarterbacks, Terry McLaurin hasn't had the best of luck throughout his three year career in Washington. With no offense to Taylor Heinicke, Kyle Allen, Alex Smith (post-injury), the late Dwayne Haskins, and several others, none has been considered a high end NFL QB. Despite the constant change at quarterback, McLaurin's numbers have been remarkably consistent in his first three seasons, averaging 70 catches for 1,030 yards and slightly more than five touchdown receptions per season. While more of a boom or bust player thus far, McLaurin has absolutely been on fantasy owners' radar since early in his rookie season.

In 2021, "Scary Terry" posted four 100+ yard receiving games and scored all five of his touchdowns in those games. 455 of his 1,053 yards came in those four contests (43%) which means the other thirteen games were scary for fantasy owners in their own right. Carson Wentz is the newly named Commanders' new starting quarterback and looks to form an immediate bond with the team's star receiver, who was just rewarded with a three year, $71 million extension this summer.

For McLaurin to be considered an unquestioned every week starter, the yardage total and touchdowns need to rise - somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,200 yards and 8 touchdowns. Instead he's a lower-end fantasy WR2 going into 2022, with upside depending on how the Wentz-Commanders partnership works out.
