Raiders vs. Steelers NFL Week 2 injury report, odds, spread: Josh Jacobs, Yannick Ngakoue in question, Marcus Mariota out; Raiders backup QB now Nathan Peterman

The Raiders are dealing with several injuries heading into Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.

The Las Vegas Raiders won a wild Monday night home game in overtime against the Ravens and thus might have been set up for a bit of a letdown as it was on a short week this Sunday and a 10 a.m. Pacific time kickoff in Pittsburgh. On top of that, the Raiders are dealing with several injuries, with running back Josh Jacobs and pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue both in question among others. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota is officially out, meaning if Derek Carr gets injured the infamous Nathan Peterman would play. Pittsburgh is currently -5.5 at Caesars Sportsbook. While most backup QBs never see the field, Coach Jon Gruden had hoped to incorporate Mariota regularly in the offense this season because of his mobility. Mariota's lone snap Monday was a run for 31 yards, but the former Heisman Trophy winner aggravated a quadriceps injury on it and now will miss multiple weeks.

With Mariota, the Raiders had one of the best backup QB situations in the NFL. Now they have one of the worst with Peterman (NatePete!), who has completed just 52.6 percent of his passes in nine NFL games (eight with Buffalo, one with Las Vegas) with three touchdowns and 12 interceptions for a laughable rating of 34.0. If a quarterback came in and simply threw every ball into the dirt, his rating would be 39.6. There has been no talk about the Raiders trading for someone like Nick Foles yet.

Jacobs, a 2020 Pro Bowler, was in question for Monday's game with an illness and toe injury. He did play and had just 34 yards on 10 carries but two scores. Jacobs limped to the sideline several times and didn't practice Wednesday with a toe/ankle. Obviously, monitor that. Kenyan Drake could be in line for a huge uptick in carries. There was concern that Ngakoue might miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury. He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. Ngakoue had four tackles, a pass deflection and a quarterback hit Monday (plus a ton of pressure) against his former Ravens team before leaving.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was lost for the season in Week 1 as reportedly was guard Denzelle Good, while fellow guard Richie Incognito didn't play and isn't likely to Sunday.

Pittsburgh not only upset the Bills in Buffalo in Week 1 but got out of the game quite healthy. With the Steelers favored here, they have failed to cover their past four in that situation including playoffs and have lost the past three outright. The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their past five games as road underdogs.
