NFL Week 3: Disappointing Philadelphia Eagles have shortest odds to make playoffs of 10 winless teams

There are 10 winless teams in the NFL, and history says it's unlikely any make the postseason.

Since the NFL expanded its playoff format in 1990, only around 12 percent of teams to start 0-2 have reached the postseason and none did last year. Over that span, just six percent of 0-2 teams went on to win their division and only three won the Super Bowl: 1993 Cowboys, 2001 Patriots and 2007 Giants. There are 10 winless teams entering Sunday (the Dolphins were in this boat for Week 3 but won in Jacksonville on Thursday).

Here's a look at their moneyline odds to make/miss the playoffs at William Hill sportsbook. Keep in mind that going even further back to 1980, only six teams to start 0-3 played postseason football. The last was Houston in 2018.

New York Jets (+1200/-2400): Adam Gase's mess of a team is more likely to go winless than reach the playoffs. Gase might not be the Jets' coach by Week 4.

Cincinnati Bengals (+1200/-2400): The Bengals are nearly TD underdogs in Philly this week. At least the future looks bright with Joe Burrow. Cincinnati's two losses are by a combined eight points.

Houston Texans (+260/-330): Houston has had easily the toughest schedule in the NFL thus far in facing the Chiefs and Ravens. It's not much easier this week in Pittsburgh.

Denver Broncos (+450/-650): A chic playoff pick by many NFL experts, the Broncos have been gutted by injuries, losing Von Miller (likely) and Courtland Sutton for the season and Drew Lock for up to six weeks.

New York Giants (+1000/-2000): With Saquon Barkley done for the season, the G-Men likely are looking at a last-place finish in the NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles (+150/-175): Arguably the most disappointing team in the NFL with Carson Wentz the league's most disappointing player. However, if the Eagles beat the Bengals on Sunday they could find themselves tied for first in the weak NFC East by Sunday night with Dallas and Washington both favored to lose in Week 3. If Philly loses again Sunday, though, expect the fan base to really start calling for the benching of Wentz in favor of second-round rookie Jalen Hurts.

Detroit Lions (+450/-650): The Lions have managed to blow double-digit leads in their first two games and in fact own the NFL record with four straight losses dating to last year after leading by double digits. How is Matt Patricia still employed?

Minnesota Vikings (+250/-320): The Vikes are the league's most disappointing team west of Philadelphia and Coach Mike Zimmer is now on the hot seat.

Atlanta Falcons (+450/-650): Atlanta is a home favorite on Sunday over an unbeaten Bears team. The Falcons have a playoff-caliber offense, at least.

Carolina Panthers (+1000/-2000): The Panthers are one of the youngest teams in the league and rebuilding under Matt Rhule. They have been very competitive in both losses to good teams. The Cats are one of the biggest Week 3 dogs (+6.5) at the Chargers.
