NFL Thanksgiving odds, props: Texans' Deshaun Watson favored to throw for most yards on holiday

Thanksgiving always brings with it some unusual NFL props from William Hill Sportsbook. One active is which QB throws for the most yards Thursday in the three games.

William Hill Sportsbook annually releases which player will have the most passing yards, rushing yards and receiving yards during the three-game NFL schedule on the Thanksgiving holiday, and on the passing prop Houston's Deshaun Watson is the +250 current favorite as the Texans visit Detroit in the first matchup of Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The Texans are up to 3-point favorites at William Hill.

While the Texans aren't very good this season and fired Coach Bill O'Brien weeks ago, Watson is having another fine season and is sixth in the NFL in averaging 288.3 passing yards per game. He comes off a 344-yard effort on Sunday in a 27-20 home upset of New England. Watson's season high in passing yardage has been 359 (vs. Jacksonville) and his season low 163 (very windy day in Cleveland).

Detroit ranks near the bottom in allowing 258.4 passing yards per game and could be missing a few key members of the secondary due to injury, including this year's No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah.

The Lions' Matthew Stafford is second on this prop at +275 but note that he's playing through a partially torn ligament in his throwing thumb. The former No. 1 overall pick was not sharp at all in Sunday's embarrassing 20-0 loss in Charlotte in throwing for just 178 yards. The Texans allow 252.4 passing yards per game.

Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger is next at +350 with the Steelers visiting Baltimore in the primetime game – at least, that game is still scheduled despite a COVID-19 outbreak on the Ravens. In a Week 8 upset win in Baltimore, Big Ben was held to 182 yards passing.

Ravens QB and reigning league Lamar Jackson is a long shot at +750 on this prop. No question that Jackson has regressed this year as a passer. He has yet to top 300 yards and has been held under 200 six times. In that first Steelers game, Jackson threw for 208 yards. Pittsburgh has the No. 3 pass defense in the NFL.

The No. 1 pass defense belongs to Washington, which allows 195.4 yards through the air per game. The Football Team visits Dallas in the mid-afternoon game, with Washington's Alex Smith at +550 on this prop and the Cowboys' Andy Dalton +650.

NFL free pick: Watson as the Texans can't run the ball this year so he may throw it 50 times.
