NFL Thanksgiving odds, betting trends: Bettors hammering favored Texans (vs. Lions) and Cowboys (vs. Washington)

Bettors at William Hill Sportsbook really like the favorites in the two NFL games on Thanksgiving.

It's far from the best Thanksgiving NFL schedule in the wake of Ravens at Steelers being postponed from the primetime slot to Sunday afternoon (note: even that's in jeopardy with a huge COVID outbreak on Baltimore), and in fact the two remaining holiday games – Houston Texans at Detroit Lions and Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys – feature four teams who have a combined win percentage of .325 (13-27 record). That's the lowest combined win percentage ever on a Thanksgiving with multiple games. Both Texas teams are favored by 3 points as of this writing on the NFL odds, and bettors at William Hill Sportsbook are crushing that duo.

In the 12:30 p.m. ET game, the Texans are taking 83 percent of all money wagered on the game in Detroit and 74 percent of tickets sold. For what it's worth, road favorites are 17-4 against the spread on Thanksgiving since 2004 and 7-2 ATS over the past three years. On bettor in Michigan put down $30,000 on Houston giving the points.

On the total of 51.5, 78 percent of all the money bet is on the Over and 57 percent of tickets. Detroit home Overs are 4-0 this season (a combined 58.3 points scored in those game games), and the Lions have gone Over in 10 of their last 11 home games dating back to last season.

Despite getting dominated 25-3 earlier this year in a loss at Washington, the Cowboys are taking an 82 percent lean in terms of money wagered on the spread in the 4:30 p.m. ET game and 72 percent of all tickets. Interesting leans considering the Cowboys are 1-8 ATS in their past nine Thanksgiving games and that Dallas is 0-5 ATS as a favorite this year.

"I think this game is priced right," said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading at William Hill US. "This game means a lot now, winner is going to be in decent shape for the playoffs. Washington just beat up Dallas a few weeks ago and knocked out [Andy] Dalton, so it'll definitely be personal for him. It's a huge rivalry to begin with, Washington-Cowboys has always been a hated rivalry. They've played a lot of Thanksgiving battles before. I think this one is going to be very chippy and physical."

On the fairly low Washington-Dallas total of 46, 65 percent of all money wagered is on the Over and 64 percent of tickets sold. The last five meetings between these teams at AT&T Stadium have gone Over, with at least 50 points scored in each.
