NFC West futures trends: No NFL team taking more betting action on under win total than L.A. Rams

Bettors at William Hill sportsbook are absolutely crushing the under on the Rams' 2020 NFL win total prop.

The NFL likes to tout its parity, and the NFC West has been a good example of it over the past five seasons. Every team has won at least one division title since 2015. The only team to repeat in that span was the Los Angeles Rams in 2017-18, but NFL bettors at William Hill are incredibly pessimistic on the Rams for this season at least in terms of their Over-Under win total. In fact, no team in the league has taken a bigger percentage on the Under than the Rams have.

When William Hill released the win totals a few months ago, the Rams were set at 9 – they finished 9-7 last year, their third straight winning season, but missed the playoffs; under the new postseason format with an additional Wild-Card spot, they would have made it.

L.A. giving out so many big contracts over the past few years finally caught up to the franchise this offseason as the club waived running back Todd Gurley and linebacker Clay Matthews and traded receiver Brandin Cooks among some other cost-cutting moves. The Rams also didn't have a 2020 first-round draft pick thanks to the Jalen Ramsey trade (he'll be the next Ram to be overpaid).

The Rams' win total has since dropped to 8.5 at William Hill because 95 percent of all action on that prop has been on the Under as well as 80 percent of all tickets sold. The Rams are the only NFC West team whose win total has dropped. One bettor in New Jersey dropped $7,000 on the Rams at -140 to go Under 9 wins, which would return about $12,000. That's the largest win total wager of any NFC West team thus far.

See every projected win total, including the shocking prediction for the Packers, all from an uncanny computer model that crushed its NFL win total picks last year!

The defending division and conference champion San Francisco 49ers are tied for the NFC's highest win total (with New Orleans) at 10.5, but the Niners are taking a majority lean on Under as well to the point that the moneyline price on Over 10.5 has dropped from -150 on the NFL odds to -125. A total of 71 percent of all money on the Niners' win total is on Under as well as 51 percent of tickets.

Meanwhile, William Hill bettors are very optimistic on the win totals of the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks.

Arizona is set at a division-low 7 wins, but the trade for All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins from Houston has helped draw 91 percent of all tickets sold on the Over – second-most on the NFL regarding tickets on an Over behind the Buffalo Bills (9.0 wins) at 92 percent -- and 77 percent of all money wagered.

Seattle has yet to win fewer than nine regular-season games since Russell Wilson was drafted in 2012, and the Seahawks are set at 9.5 for this year. Eighty-five percent of all tickets and also 85 percent of all money wagered as been on the Over. That action could increase were the team to re-sign free-agent Jadeveon Clowney.

The SportsLine Projection Model forecasts the Niners for 10.4 wins, Seahawks for 9.2, Rams for 8.3 and Cardinals for 6.9.
