Marlins to win World Series, Seahawks to win Super Bowl 57, Daniel Jones to lead NFL in passing yards same odds as long-shot Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike

Here are some long-shot odds in other sports that are the same as Rich Strike's to win the Kentucky Derby.

The horse racing world is still in a state of shock after last-minute entry and +8000 long shot Rick Strike won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. He paid $163.60 to win, and only Donerail in 1913 had a higher payout at $184.90. Rick Strike is not the early favorite for the Preakness Stakes, however. He is +700 to take the second leg of the Triple Crown with Epicenter the +250 favorite. Here are some other futures odds around the sports world equal to Rick Strike's Derby odds.

Marlins to win World Series: Miami has been a bit better than expected at 13-15 and does have a very talented pitching staff, but the lineup leaves much to be desired (Jazz Chisholm is a fine young player, though) and it's not like the Marlins will go out and spend big money to get better via trade this summer. Ownership's unwillingness to spend this offseason was why Derek Jeter left his role as CEO of the team.

Triston McKenzie to win AL Cy Young: The 24-year-old McKenzie is 2-2 with a 2.76 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 29.1 innings for the Guardians. He beat a good Blue Jays team on Saturday and next is scheduled to take the mound Saturday at Minnesota.

Josh Hader to win NL Cy Young: This actually might not be that far-fetched, although it has been a long while since a reliever won the Cy Young (Eric Gagne in 2003). The Brewers' closer has been basically unhittable so far with a 0.00 ERA and 0.58 WHIP in 10.1 innings with 11 saves and 16 strikeouts. Opponents are 2-for-34 against him. Hader is the fifth pitcher in MLB history to earn a save in each of his first 11+ games in a season.

Seahawks to win Super Bowl 57: Seattle obviously wouldn't be +8000 to win the Super Bowl if Russell Wilson was still around, but right now the team's quarterback room is Drew Lock (the probable Week 1 starter), Geno Smith and Jacob Eason. If that's not the worst group in the NFL, I'm not sure what it. The Seahawks did not draft a quarterback with any of their nine picks. Seattle has been linked to a trade for Cleveland's Baker Mayfield, but Coach Pete Carroll said last week that: "I don't see us making a trade for anybody at all. I don't see that happening. But we're certainly going to continue to be open to chances to help our club, and meanwhile we're just going to be battling and competing our tails off. There's always possibilities, so we keep open to that."

Daniel Jones to lead NFL in passing: The Giants already have declined Jones' fifth-year rookie option so this might be his last season with Big Blue. The former No. 6 overall pick has yet to play a more than 14 games in a season and his highest passing total was 3,027 yards as a rookie in 2019. Jones could have a short leash this season with a new head coach and a veteran QB behind him in Tyrod Taylor.
