Falcons vs. Packers injury report, betting odds shift: Davante Adams will not play, but Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley will

Green Bay will be without star wideout Davante Adams on Monday vs. Atlanta and the spread has changed because of it.

It could be one of the highest-scoring matchups of the NFL season in the now second game Monday night to close Week 4 as the Atlanta Falcons visit the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are 6-point favorites on the William Hill NFL odds with a total of 56.5 that's one of the highest of the season -- the Pack had been -6.5, but the book adjusted with the Adams news. A reminder that kickoff has been pushed back a bit to 8:50 p.m. ET because Patriots-Chiefs had to be moved to Monday at 7 p.m. ET after New England QB Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

This matchup was to feature two of the NFL's best receivers in Atlanta's Julio Jones and Green Bay's Davante Adams, but Adams tweeted this morning that he will not go.

Jones had a monster Week 1 with nine catches for 157 yards but injured his hamstring in Week 2 and was quiet vs. Dallas, so the team had Jones inactive for Week 3. Jones was at practice last week and it's being reported this morning he will play. No. 2 wideout Calvin Ridley is listed as questionable with an ankle injury but also will play. Actually, Ridley might be the team's best receiver these days as he leads the club with 21 catches for 349 yards and four scores.

Adams also had a monster Week 1 with 14 catches for 156 yards and two scores but injured his hamstring in Week 2 and was quiet vs. Detroit, so the team had Adams inactive for Week 3. Adams also was at practice last week and is listed as questionable – it was thought he would give it a try but apparently not. Perhaps that the Packers are on their bye Week 5 played a role in Adams' decision to sit.

The Pack will be without No. 2 wideout Allen Lazard indefinitely following core muscle surgery last week.  That's likely anywhere from a 4-8-week recovery period. Lazard has 13 catches for 254 yards (first on team) and two scores.

It's a bit surprising that bettors are hitting the Under at William Hill on this matchup (total opened at 58) considering the Packers have scored at least 35 points in each of their first three games for the first time and lead the NFL in scoring at 37.0 ppg.

The Packers have gone Over their betting total by an average of 19.8 points per game this year, the highest mark by any team through three games since the 2008 Chargers. Atlanta, meanwhile, is last in scoring defense in allowing 36.0 ppg. It has gone Over the total an average of 16.3 points per in the first three weeks, No. 2 in the league.

Green Bay has covered in all three games – its cover margin of plus-11.5 is the highest mark in the NFL -- and is looking to start 4-0 against the spread for the first time since 2015. The Falcons, meanwhile, lost their lone road game this season but it took a miracle choke job to do that in Dallas in Week 2. Atlanta has covered its past five away from home.
