Dolphins vs. Ravens NFL Week 2 injury report, odds, trends: Baltimore has won six straight home openers, may get J.K. Dobbins back

The Ravens have a streak of six straight home-opening wins on the line as they host Miami on Sunday.

It's well-known that the Baltimore Ravens are the greatest NFL preseason team in history under Coach John Harbaugh. They have won an incredible 23 straight exhibition games as Harbaugh wants his team to have that "winning attitude" when the regular season starts. That has carried over to Baltimore's home openers -- it has won six of them in a row. The Ravens will look to make it seven straight when they host Miami on Sunday. The game will likely mark the season debut of projected No. 1 running back J.K. Dobbins. The Ravens are -3.5 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Dobbins tore his ACL in the 2021 preseason and missed all of that campaign. He hadn't practiced fully until Wednesday, which means he's likely on track to play against the Dolphins. Dobbins had been a limited participant for about a month. The former Ohio State star had 805 yards on 134 carries in 2020 as a rookie and scored a rushing touchdown in seven consecutive games, including the Wild-Card game against the Titans, which tied for the second-longest streak in NFL history by a rookie.

Without Dobbins and Gus Edwards (reserve/PUP list), Baltimore struggled running the ball in its 24-9 Week 1 win at the Jets with 63 yards on 21 carries. Recently-signed Kenyan Drake was the top back with 31 yards on 11 carries. It's still not clear if Pro Bowl left tackle Ronnie Stanley and cornerback Marcus Peters will play Week 2 as neither appeared in the opener but continue to practice in limited capacity.

The Ravens' last loss in a home opener was against Cincinnati in 2015 when, Lamar Jackson was still at Louisville. In his three openers, Baltimore is averaging 32.3 points per game. Jackson is from South Florida so he likely will be eyeing some payback for a 22-10 loss in Miami last year. Those were the fewest points scored by Baltimore in any start of Jackson's career. He was blitzed a whopping 25 times, the second-most in his career.

Miami dominated New England 20-7 in Week 1 and is 9-1 straight up in its past 10 regular-season games, 8-2 against the spread and is allowing just 14.7 PPG. Those marks are all league-bests over that span. Mike McDaniel became the first Dolphins coach to start 1-0 in his first season with team since Nick Saban in 2005. The last Dolphins coach to start 2-0 in his first season was Jimmy Johnson in 1996.

McDaniel has yet to commit to starting offensive tackles Terron Armstead (ankle) and Austin Jackson (ankle) playing in Week 2. Pro Football Focus graded Miami's pass blocking as the eighth-worst in Week 1 even with them both starting. Armstead signed a huge free-agent contract with Miami in the offseason and was previously a three-time Pro Bowler in New Orleans.
