I see Engram is a popular pick and he did have a big game last time these teams met. What Mike and Larry didn't mention: Engram needs 61 receiving yards (739 to 800) to earn a $200K bonus. I guarantee you Trevor Lawrence knows that.
While the Titans figure to run Jacksonville native Derrick Henry over and over again, someone has to catch the occasional pass from Josh Dobbs. We won on Robert Woods in Week 17 with Woods and will go right back to the well -- especially with Treylon Burks popping up on the injury report. Jacksonville is weak against the pass.
Don’t read too much into Engram catching just one of two targets for 16 yards last week. The Jaguars blew out the Texans, which didn’t require them to throw much in the second half. Prior to that, Engram had three straight games with at least 62 receiving yards. That included his 11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns against the Titans in Week 14. The Titans have allowed the fourth-most receptions and the second-most receiving yards to tight ends in the league, making the over the way to go here.
Lawrence wasn’t needed to do much last week with the Jaguars blowing out the Texans, which resulted in him throwing for only 152 yards. The week prior, a difficult Jets secondary limited him to 229 yards. That might be the reason why Lawrence’s number is this low, despite a great matchup against a Titans team that has allowed the most passing yards per game in the league. When he faced them in Week 14, he threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Take the over.
When these teams met Dec. 11 in Nashville, Jags tight end Evan Engram went off for 11 catches, 162 yards and two touchdowns. That was part of a four-game stretch in which Engram drew 40 targets while making 31 grabs. His scorching streak ended last week with a one-catch dud at Houston, but that was an anomalous blowout. Look for Engram to be heavily involved Saturday night versus a Titans' defense allowing the third-most catches to tight ends.
This is a big game for both teams with a playoff berth on the line, but this total is basically the same as last week's Titans-Cowboys game in which 40 points were scored. That was the third straight Under and 11th in the last 16 Tennessee games. The bottom line is the Titans have lost their last six because they can't score, forcing them to slow the game down. I expect the Tennessee defense to play well and help keep this game Under.
