While Lamar Jackson has struggled in recent weeks, the Ravens defense has stepped up in a major way. In fact, Baltimore hasn’t given up more than 24 points in a game since Sept. 25. Now, the Ravens get Trevor Lawrence, who has the worst record for a No. 1 pick to start his career since the likes of David Carr and JaMarcus Russell. The Jaguars, meanwhile, have shown a clear inability to beat mobile quarterbacks this season, and Jackson will be the most mobile they’ve faced thus far. Beyond that, Lamar gets Gus Edwards in the backfield, which should help open the ground game even further and create some easier throwing opportunities. This is a really nice get-right spot for Jackson and the Ravens offense. It should be close, but Baltimore will pull away in the second half to cover a line that has slid to a field goal.
The Jaguars have the better offensive and defensive lines, and their run defense matches up great against Baltimore. The Ravens will be without stud OT Ronnie Stanley. I like Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson with two weeks to prepare. I heard the staff had some really good meetings about what is working and vice versa. Take the Jaguars and the points.
