With this line falling substantially, I'm willing to hop on the Seahawks at a meager point. Russell Wilson has been the early NFL MVP, and while Seattle's defense leaves plenty to be desired, he's still the key piece in this game. It took a ton of miscues for the Seahawks to lose to the Cardinals last week, so that does not concern me much. Both teams are missing key starters at running back, so those absences wash out. In the end, I'm getting the more consistent offense with the better quarterback at a near-pick 'em. I'll take that.
Both teams have been hit with significant injuries, but the Seahawks still have their best weapons with Russell Wilson, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. DeeJay Dallas projects as a sufficient replacement in the running game. Even with the defensive injuries and the loss of Carson/Hyde, I make the Seahawks -5.3 points better on their home field.
The Seahawks are on pace to allow the most yards in NFL history, and they won't have a raucous home crowd to boost them Sunday. Trade acquisition Carlos Dunlap isn't available to play yet, and starting CB Shaquill Griffin is out with a concussion and hamstring injury. This game should go down to the wire, so I'm taking the points.
The 49ers have looked sharp in their last two games with Jimmy Garoppolo healthy and shaking off the funk. What impressed me most in their last game is how Kyle Shanahan attacked Bill Belichick’s defense by stretching the field from sideline to sideline. Despite a new running back star each week due to injuries, the offense is clicking and that’s bad news for the Seattle defense, which allows more yards than anyone (479.2 per game). The last four meetings have gone Over the total. Russell Wilson is getting his scores as well, so Over is the play.
