Patience pays off as we now are able to get the Rams at a slightly more comfortable number. Despite West Coast to East Coast travel usually being an issue for teams, Sean McVay's Rams are 7-1 ATS in such situations with the lone loss coming to a talented Bills team. Washington ain't Buffalo, and Kyle Allen ain't Josh Allen even if they share the same last name. There may be more comfort for Ron Rivera, but he's not going to make that much of a difference up against Los Angeles' strong defensive line. The Rams also have both of their primary rushers active, which should allow the offense to run smoother behind Jared Goff. This is a get-right game for Los Angeles.
Kyle Allen starts at QB for Washington, which in terms of talent is not an upgrade, but he know the offense far better than Dwayne Haskins. Allen started 12 games for coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Scott Turner in Carolina last year. His median stats were 24 completions, 37 pass attempts, 261 yards and a touchdown for 7.1 yards per pass with a completion percentage of 65. The Rams make their second trip east in the last three weeks.
I don't think Kyle Allen is going to make a huge difference to the Washington offense, especially with Dwayne Haskins coming off his best game and still losing by double digits. While the Washington defense feels like it's been solid, this team has given up 30-plus points in three straight. The Rams played the ugliest game possible last week and still beat a similarly awful team by eight points, so a cover is still on the table if the Rams should struggle. This is already the Rams' third 1 p.m. ET East Cost game of the year, and they should be 2-0 in them if not for a highly questionable pass interference call in the Bills loss. I think the Rams roll here.
With the benching of Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen, who was woefully ineffective in Carolina last year, this offense will not have a chance against a Los Angeles Rams team that features two elite players in Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. Also, the Rams' offense will take advantage of the ineffective Safeties for Washington. This feels like a blowout waiting to happen.
The cross-country commute is no deterrent to the Rams under coach Sean McVay. His teams were 7-1 ATS and straight-up in the eastern time zone before a recent gig in Buffalo, and the three-point setback missed covering by a hook. Washington has benched Dwayne Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen, who has starter’s experience in Carolina, but it’s a big ask for a rusty player to cope with DT Aaron Donald and cohorts. That Ron Rivera continues to coach through cancer treatments is admirable but not ideal for the team.
