The Falcons took half the season to figure things out, but they’ve played like a playoff team in the second half, winning five of their last seven, two of which came at San Francisco and at New Orleans. They’ve won and covered their last three games and covered six of their last eight. That type of play saved coach Dan Quinn’s job. I’m on the Falcons to close out the season strong.
I understand why Vegas favors the Buccaneers in this game, as their offense - despite QB Jaemis Winston's interceptions - has been able to move the ball against essentially everyone this season. However, the Falcons have played much better, collectively, since their bye week. It ultimately will come down to ball security, and that clearly favors Atlanta.
Atlanta has not quit. Matt Ryan threw for 384 yards last week and Julio Jones is having a huge year. And the Falcons can run the ball now, thanks to their improved offensive line. Jameis Winston just keeps turning the ball over. Take Atlanta.
The Falcons appear to be playing for coach Dan Quinn’s job. Under fire, he is getting the most out of his talent - perhaps too late - as Atlanta has won three in a row. Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston is a breathing highlight/lowlight film - big gains, but too many turnovers. Hamstring injuries have left his receiving cupboard almost bare. Mike Evans (hamstring) is on IR and Chris Godwin (hamstring) is likely out. Winston will take too many risks with a second-tier group.
