While the Colts did have additional time to prepare for this game, I'm not sure anyone can completely get ready for Deshaun Watson. I expect DeAndre Hopkins to have a good game after struggling a week ago and Houston to prove it has overcome its early-season issues with a road victory here against a talented but uneven Indianapolis team.
The number is right, but the wrong team is favored in this AFC South matchup. My simulations make the Texas -1.4 points better than the Colts on the road in Indianapolis. Look for DeAndre Hopkins to breakout for his biggest game of the season against the Colts. Take the points.
Coming off a bye week, the Indianapolis Colts will face a divisional opponent in the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Texans are coming off consecutive weeks of explosive offense performances against the Falcons and Chiefs. That’ll be put to the test with the Colts' ball control offense and their bye week edge. However, look for the Texans to sidestep a second consecutive road game and get the win on Sunday.
QB Deshaun Watson and the Houston offense are on fire. The recent surge has moved it to the sixth-most productive in the league. Indy comes off a bye but three key players in the secondary are coping with injuries. Colts QB Jacoby Brissett is settling in as Andrew Luck’s replacement. The team has scored in the mid-20s in both home games, albeit against weaker defenses than Houston’s.
This doesn't strike me as a great matchup for the Colts, so if I can get a point with the Texans, I'll gladly take it. Indianapolis' offense has been at its best running the ball, but the Texans run defense is one of the best in the NFL. On the flip side, Houston's found success in the run game the last few weeks, and the Colts run defense isn't great. That combined with Deshaun Watson leads me to believing the Texans win outright.
