The Steelers -- and Big Ben -- are a far better team at home, while the Seahawks are nowhere near as dangerous on the road, particularly with an early start. Pittsburgh was embarrassed last week against New England and knows it has to bounce back in a major way -- and fast. Seattle was able to feast on Jameis Winston in a way they should not be able to do against Big Ben. The Steelers have the offensive weapons, even without Antonio Brown, to score enough on the Seahwaks to cover this inflated spread. Take Pittsburgh.
This line reflects an overreaction to Week 1 -- with Pittsburgh but not Seattle. Both teams were lousy. The Seahawks lucked out against Cincinnati, winning by one. The Steelers were not so fortunate against the Patriots, losing by 30. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger owns a career passer rating 10 points higher at home than on the road. The home side has covered five in a row in the series. Seattleās offense is pedestrian and its defense, while still stout, is undergoing a makeover. Take Pittsburgh.
I'm not sure which way this line will go by Sunday, but I don't want to risk losing the push with four so I'm going to play the Steelers here. They're going to look much better than they did Week 1, as heading to New England is the toughest matchup a team can have in their opener. The Seahawks pass defense looked bad against the Bengals, and Big Ben should be able to light them up, with JuJu Smith-Schuster having a big game and James Washington hitting multiple big plays. The Seahawks do know how to travel (6-1 ATS in last seven 1 p.m. games), but Pittsburgh needs it more.
Last week the Steelers weren't able to do a thing against the Patriots, while the Seahawks got torched at home by Andy Dalton and the new Bengals offense. Well, the Steelers never do anything against New England, and I'm far more concerned about what I saw from the Seahawks defense. The Steelers bounce back in a major way against Seattle this weekend.
The week after Big Ben fails to throw a TD pass, the Steelers are 26-3. The Seahawks haven't fared well going East in recent years, and they just gave up more than 400 passing yards to the Bengals at home. I think Pittsburgh will get its act together this week.
