If you're worried about the Chiefs covering a massive number on the road, this first-half bet seems like a pretty safe wager. The Raiders have scored three points or less in four of their last seven first halves, managing 10 and 14 twice in the other two. The Chiefs have scored 20 in seven of their last 10 first halves, managing just 16 and 10 against the Broncos and nine against the Patriots. We should be good for a halftime score of around 24-10 and an easy cover here.
It’s all but automatic to grab a home team being spotted more than two touchdowns, especially in a rivalry, unless it is devastated by injury or packed it in. Neither applies here. The Raiders will welcome the setting in Oakland after playing seven of its 11 prior games on the road. K.C.’s offense overshadows a No. 25 ranked defensive for efficiency, according to Football Outsiders, which suggests Oakland can stay within arm’s reach by scoring.
I don't care how many points this is, the Chiefs always beat Oakland anyway. Andy Reid is terrific off the bye. Oakland's awful and K.C. has no mercy. The Chiefs will win by 25, 30 points.
One of the NFL's best rivalries is probably one of the more lopsided matchups of the weekend. The Raiders will struggle to find points in this game and will also struggle to slow down a red-hot Chiefs offensive attack. The only hope for Oakland will be if they can generate turnovers. KC does a great job on both ends of offense, so it'll be hard for Oakland to find their defensive footing against such a potent offense that's balanced.
Going solely on spread trends alone, the Chiefs would be a slam dunk. Kansas City is 8-2 ATS while Oakland is 3-8. Not surprisingly, my projections indicate the Chiefs covering 61 percent of the time by an average of 21 points -- yes, three touchdowns. Committing turnovers is about the only way the Chiefs don't score and Oakland has forced a meager 11 takeaways on the season. It's a big spread but lay the points with confidence. Back the Chiefs.
