I don't see Washington holding up its end of the bargain in getting to this number considering their injury issues on offense. They've topped 24 points just once this year and been held to 20 or less in five of their eight games. Are they going to be better with a patchwork O-line? I doubt it. The Bucs have the horses to score 30 and push this over, but if the Washington defense offers any type of resistance, this game should go comfortably Under.
The Redskins had some issues on both sides of the ball in a home loss to the Falcons, but I'm looking for their offense to get a boost this week just because of the Bucs defense, which allows everyone to score at will. They allow 34 ppg and 414 ypg and their minus-15 turnover margin is the worst in NFL. The Bucs have been favored twice this season and failed to cover both. They're 3-5 SU & ATS with seven of those games flying Over the total. Over is the top play.
I think you'll be able to get the Bucs at -2.5, but nonetheless I'm laying the points in this matchup. Washington is leading the NFC East but their rash of injuries at O-line against the Falcons felt like a season-killer. The Bucs have the worst pass defense in the league, but one thing they can do is get pressure with their front four, and that's bad news for a patchwork O-line. The Bucs offense has enough Atlanta to it to put up points against Washington as well, and the Bucs have scored 26 or more against everyone except the elite Bears D. They'll get their points here, and Washington won't be able to keep up.
This line is an overreaction to a banged up Washington team losing at home to a Falcons team that's better than its record suggests. I look at last week's result as an outlier more than a trend, so if I'm getting points with the Skins here, I'll take them.
A week ago, Washington being on the receiving end of a field goal was unimaginable. Then the Redskins lost both offensive guards, Brandon Scherff (chest) and Shawn Lauvao (knee), for the season. Left offensive tackle Trent Williams (thumb), out last week, might not return this week. Quarterback Alex Smith, for all of his talents, is not mobile and could be harassed often as Tampa Bay’s beleaguered defense enjoys some respite. The risk is will we see good Ryan Fitzpatrick or bad Ryan Fitzpatrick? If the Bucs QB carries over his second-half excellence from last Sunday, it will be the latter.
