The Rams could have a huge day against a below-average Packers secondary. Aaron Rodgers will get his points as the Rams rank 16th in yards per play allowed. Although the Rams defense tends to bend but not break, I think Rodgers can break them enough to get this Over the total.
I came into the week thinking the Packers could possibly upset the Rams, but the more I looked at the match-ups the top play in the game for me has become the Over. While Aaron Rodgers gets two of his receivers back this week, it's the Packers defense on the road I think will have issues. They looked bad in a 31-17 loss at Washington and couldn't contain the Lions in a 31-23 loss. Those are the only two road games for Green Bay so far. The Pack has also gone Over in 23 of their last 29 games. Over is the play.
We're getting Aaron Rodgers as the biggest underdog of his career, and even though he's up against the Super Bowl favorite Rams, I'm going to be on the Packers side here. Mike McCarthy is 9-2-1 off the bye, but throw out the loss with Brett Hundley last year. The Packers can run the ball, and the Rams struggle defending the run. Plus the Packers are the healthiest they've been in a while coming out of the break. I expect a ton of points, but if we need a backdoor cover in the fourth quarter with the Packers down 13, can't we trust one of the best QBs to ever play?
The Rams have scored at least 33 points in all but one of their games this year, and I see no reason to expect anything less here. But the Packers have one of the best QBs of our era and should be able to also throw a ton of points on the board as they come out of their bye healthier than they've been all year. The Packers have typically been an Under play after a bye week, but considering they're facing the Super Bowl favorite, I think they go all out in this matchup. Both teams get to 30 points in this one.
