Reverse line movement is real in this one as the spread has been cut in half. The problem is that I've yet to see the Giants truly stop anyone, and with Carson Wentz having his full complement of receivers -- despite a depleted running corps. -- I'm not sure New York will be able to stop Philadelphia either. The Eagles are 7-1 straight up against the Giants in their last eight meetings, they have a better roster and a better coach entering this one. To me, Philadelphia is six points better than New York on the road, so I'm getting great value here. There is something to be said for Eli Manning having some fire under his butt after comments made by Odell Beckham this week. More likely than not, that to me mean a couple interceptions that swing the game even more in favor of the visitors. This would mark the first road win for a team on Thursday Night Football this year.
The Giants offense has played pretty well over the team's last three games, and I like their chances to do so again here against an Eagles defense that hasn't really looked that good in three of the team's last four and is now going on the road in a short week. With Lane Johnson unlikely to play and Olivier Vernon set to make his season debut, the Giants have a good chance to keeping pressure on Carson Wentz in this game. I think the Giants keep home teams rolling on Thursday night.
The Eagles offense has been sluggish and QB Carson Wentz is still a bit rusty, but eventually, this Eagles offense is going to break through with a big day and the Giants appear to be the perfect opponent for it to happen. The last five meetings between these two have gone Over and I saw some things out of the Giants last week when they finally scored over 30 points that lead me to believe they're going to match the Eagles score for score. Over is the play.
The Giants' offense began to click last week and I think that carries over on a short week against a banged-up Eagles defense. On the other side, Carson Wentz should dissect a New York defense that's given up 66 points the past two weeks. Go Over.
The Eagles have lots of problems, they can't run the ball, and these games are always close. Take the points.
The Eagles have won seven of the last eight meetings with their NFC East rivals, and they've covered eight of their last 11 visits to MetLife Stadium. Despite Philly's slow start and the Giants coming off a strong performance in Carolina, these teams are not comparable. Carson Wentz began to find his groove last week. Philly allows 3.4 yards per carry, second-fewest in the NFL, and I see tough sledding for Saquon Barkley both as a rusher and a receiver. In my simulations, the Eagles are winning by a touchdown and covering 58 percent of the time. Lay the points.
