This game will feature two really good defenses and run games. Dallas will be excellent on that side of the ball, as will the Giants, at least down the middle of their defense. Where the Cowboys can have success is attacking the edge in the running game. That's where the Giants struggled in the preseason, and in Week 1 vs. Jacksonville. The passing game for both teams is still a work in progress, but if it comes down to talent, the Giants have the advantage there. But the x-factor will be which QB can you trust to get out of pressure in a crucial situation, and that leans toward the Cowboys and Dak Prescott.
I didn't like what I saw from the Cowboys offense at all last week, and while I don't want to attribute too much to Week 1 performance, they appear to have major issues moving the ball, from the talent to the play-calling. The Cowboys easily won both of last year's matchups, but neither featured Odell Beckham or obviously Saquon Barkley. We'll see if Olivier Vernon can play this week after missing the opener, but even without him I like the Giants' chances to pull out a win.
Dallas has got real problems. The O-line isn't very good right now and the QB has no weapons. The Giants didn't play that badly against Jacksonville. I think they'll be able to run the ball on Dallas. And their defense is pretty good. Take the points.
The Giants failed to win or cover in both games against the Cowboys last season, ending a Giants 5-0 ATS run in the series. But I saw something out of both squads in Week 1 that leads me to believe these two teams aren't equal as the spread suggests. The Giants played perhaps the best defense in NFL and did some good things, but Dallas was lost without center Travis Frederick at Carolina. The running game suffered and Dak Prescott was sacked six times. Giants start a new ATS win streak Sunday Night.
