I believe reports of the Jaguars' demise are greatly exaggerated. They likely have the most talented roster in the AFC and got better in the off-season. Yet they are widely viewed as a one-hit wonder that will revert to cellar dweller this year. Perhaps even more perplexing is the widespread belief that the Giants will bounce right back into contention in the NFC East following a down year. This price is too good to pass up.
Not a fan of backing Blake Bortles on the road, but I like getting this Jaguars defensive front against a Giants O-line that, while more talented than last year's unit, will take time to gel. The Giants are also expected to be without key pass-rusher Olivier Vernon, which makes Bortles' life easier. And while the Jags pass-catching corps is nothing to write home about, the Giants secondary doesn't exactly pose a formidable challenge. There will be time to fade the Jaguars this year, but not in this particular matchup.
The Jaguars were the league's most dominant defense last year, and though the Giants have added talent on the offensive line, it'll take some time for them to gel. The Jags are dealing with a few injuries on their offensive line, and I don't see Blake Bortles hanging a ton of points on the road, even against this Giants defense. This could be something like 20-13, when all is said and done.
