This line indicates to me that the Seahawks have magically gotten healthy in the few days since their Monday night loss. How else can you explain it? The Seahawks have won just two games by more than six this year: a home rout of the Colts in Week 4 that they were losing at halftime, and a dismantling of a no-name Giants team off Seattle's bye. The 49ers almost pulled off a win in Seattle early in the season, and they've had two weeks to prepare for this game, which figures to be their Super Bowl. The Seahawks have a massive stretch ahead against the Eagles, Jaguars, Rams and Cowboys. They could get caught napping here.
In Week Two at Seattle, these teams joined hands to score 21 points. There was one touchdown between them and only 560 yards generated. More scoring is likely, but it’s a long way to 45, especially with the bewildered C.J. Beathard as San Fran’s QB. The Niners are hesitant to throw in Jimmy Garoppolo for fear that he would be swamped by Seattle’s defense. Meantime, the Seahawks’ offensive line is so shaky that QB Russell Wilson is the leading rusher — by far — as a result of his constant scrambling. The public, fooled into thinking the ‘Hawks are back on track offensively from last Sunday against Atlanta, has shoved the total up three points from 42. It’s a buying opportunity for Under players.
The Seahawks defense gets a chance to rebound against the Niners, who are coming off a bye week. The saving grace for injury-depleted Seattle is that it still has the better QB in this game and a defensive line that can get after the opposing QB. Lay the points.
