My guess is, given the opponent, the Jags felt more comfortable with someone who has 45 consecutive starts than the alternative -- Chad Henne, whose last start was in 2013. Houston was much the best defensive unit in 2016, even with All-Planetary DE J.J. Watt sitting most of it out. The pass rush is killer with Watts, and Bortles’ shaky preseason might have rattled his confidence. The Jags are notoriously slow starters, having gone 7-19 ATS in recent September games, while Houston is 5-2 ATS in the seven latest openers.
