This lines up as a solid spot for an Eagles team looking to finish its season on a positive note against a Cowboys team whose playoff fate already is sealed. Philadelphia outplayed Dallas in the first meeting before self-destructing late and losing in overtime. The loss started a downward spiral for the Eagles in which they lost seven of eight after starting the season 3-0. The Cowboys have announced they plan to play it safe and go down the depth chart at every position. Philadelphia should be happy to capitalize with a win.
While a debate rages on if Dak Prescott or Tony Romo should start this game at QB, I expect the Cowboys to opt for door No. 3: Mark Sanchez. That would be a blessing for the Eagles, particularly if Dallas’ array of skill-position stars and peerless offensive line sit part or all afternoon. Philly is 5-2 straight-up at home, with the defense earning major plaudits. (Just ask Eli Manning.) The rivalry should excite the Eagles enough to down the lesser motivated Cowboys.
Even though the Eagles are 6-9, this game means a lot more to them than the Cowboys, who will be resting starters for much of it. Look for Philly to build off its win over the Giants and help Carson Wentz gain momentum heading into the offseason. Darren Sproles is in for a big game. Lay the points.
The line here is banking on the Cowboys resting players, which is very possible. The truth is that the Cowboys are a bad matchup for the Eagles on the perimeter. Dallas will make a statement in this game and head into the playoffs red hot.
