Both teams rank in the bottom third of total offense, but I think we’ll see a breakout of sorts for both sides Sunday. Eli Manning should be able to exploit a Philadelphia secondary that allowed 287 yards to Dallas last week. Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has been criticized for his dink-and-dunk approach, with just 202 yards on 32 completions last week. Even so, the offense was effective in consistently getting chunk yardage for first downs and long drives against Dallas. The spread is a close call, but I’m picking this game to go Over with room to spare.
The Eagles are rolling against the Giants, having won four straight against them. While there was a coaching change this offseason, the same offensive system is still in place. Philly’s elite unit, which ranks No. 1 in DVOA against the pass, should have no trouble against the Giants’ passing game with Odell Beckham at less than 100 percent. The Giants are healthier in the rushing game but still ineffective. I don’t have complete faith in the Eagles offensively, but they’ve yet to score less than 20 points in a game. That should be enough for a win here.
I think you’ll see a defensive slugfest here. The difference will end up being a huge offensive play to break the game open, which in my opinion will come from the Giants' passing game. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the G-Men win 10-6.
