The Chiefs got the best of the Chargers twice last year, once in a rout. However, both games featured a depleted Chargers receiving corps, and San Diego lost left tackle King Dunlap during each of those games. This Chargers passing game is in a much better spot with a healthy Keenan Allen and new addition Travis Benjamin, and Dunlap is healthy. With the Chiefs not having a dynamic passing attack, not getting much (if anything) from Jamaal Charles and not having top pass rusher Justin Houston in tow, this figures to be a much closer game than the line suggests.
The Chiefs annihilated the Chargers last season, winning both matchups by a combined 43-6. That's one reason we see this Week 1 line so high. But this is a new year. Ken Whisenhunt's return as Chargers OC is a big boost to an offense that should break out. K.C. is clearly the better team, but with Jamaal Charles iffy and All-Pro safety Eric Berry not 100 percent yet, I'll grab the hefty points. Look for the road team to improve to 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings.
