These two teams met in Week 1 last year, and the Cowboys overcame a 10-point third-quarter deficit to eke out a win thanks to Tony Romo. Dallas can't count on Romo to save them this time, and the Giants defense can feel free to stack the box and double Dez Bryant, forcing fourth-round rookie Dak Prescott to find a way to channel Romo and win. That's not going to happen against an upgraded Giants defense. On the other side, Eli Manning, Rashad Jennings and an improved receiving corps should have no trouble against an undermanned Dallas defense.
This spread shrunk from four points when Dallas QB Tony Romo (back) went down. It should have shifted even more. While Dak Prescott has wowed in the preseason, he is a rookie drafted in the fourth round. The Giants have not changed their effective offensive scheme at all with Ben McAdoo's elevation to head coach; they ranked sixth in points (26.3) last season and welcome rookie Sterling Shepard to an already lethal passing attack. What's more, I believe their spending spree on free agents to fix the D will pay off.
