Today's picks: Why Rockets will cover vs. Blazers and more expert bets for Thursday

Jonathan Coachman is joined by featured sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast. They spotlight their best bets for the NBA and college basketball slates for Tuesday, Jan. 26, and also mix in prime NHL selections. 

Mike is on the early line of Phoenix -1 over Golden State at 10 p.m. ET, noting how the status of Devin Booker can affect the line movement. Coming off a great Wednesday run, Larry looks to keep the momentum going with the Rockets -4.5 over the depleted Blazers at 7:30 p.m. ET. "Christian Wood is coming back for the Rockets and they have John Wall, they have Eric Gordon and they have Victor Oladipo." Larry calls Houston "an undervalued team that is really blossoming without James Harden and that distraction. You look at the Blazers and they are still missing two of their best players. Also, Robert Covington is out and he is a good defender."

For NBA props, Mike is riding with Reggie Jackson Over 25.5 points plus rebounds and assists in Clippers-Heat at 8 p.m. ET as he expects him to play a "ton of minutes." Larry goes back to the Blazers for a rare under pick, with Enes Kanter at under 13.5 points. 

By popular demand, Jonathan highlights a pair of NHL plays from SportsLine's Matt Severance, who tabs Vancouver -150 over Ottawa at 10 p.m. ET and Tampa Bay -145 over Carolina at 7 p.m. ET. 

in college basketball, Mike likes UAB over Middle Tennessee at -10.5 at 9 p.m. ET and Larry takes SMU -3.5 over Memphis at 8 p.m. ET.
