Pistons vs. Warriors Tuesday NBA injury report, spread, odds: Steph Curry back for Golden State, Draymond Green remains out

MVP favorite Steph Curry will play Tuesday vs. Detroit.

On Monday, we told you that Golden State's Steph Curry was now the clear favorite to win a third-career NBA regular-season MVP Award thanks to the injury suffered by former favorite Kevin Durant, and Curry will play Tuesday night in what appears to be a major mismatch against the visiting Detroit Pistons after sitting out Sunday. The Dubs remain without Draymond Green but are still 15-point favorites in one of just two NBA games on the night.

Curry has been dealing with some right (shooting) hand soreness that caused him to miss Sunday's game vs. Minnesota. Maybe that hand explains why Curry is shooting just 35.4 percent this month and 29.9 percent from deep. His scoring average is only 19.6 points in January, and he's down to sixth in the league at 26.3 ppg. Thus, the MVP race could be far from over also involving Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo (+300) and Denver's Nikola Jokic (+600).

Green has missed a few games already with a lower back issue and will not play for at least the next two weeks, which may hamper Golden State's chances to finish with the best record in the Western Conference. Currently, the Dubs are given an Over/Under seed of 2.5, with the Under a -195 favorite. They are three games behind Phoenix for the West's best record and only 1.5 game ahead of Memphis for No. 3. Guard Gary Payton II, who has become a pretty solid contributor, is also questionable tonight.

The Pistons won't be missing anyone we didn't already know about as they start a West Coast trip. Detroit has won three of five but all three wins were at home; the Pistons have been atrocious for the most part on the road.

Golden State has won three in a row vs. Detroit, including 105-102 in Motown on Nov. 19. Curry missed that game and both Jordan Poole (32 points) and Andrew Wiggins (27 points) stepped up big time. Green, Otto Porter and Andre Iguodala were out as well. Detroit's Jerami Grant and Frank Jackson missed three-pointers in the closing seconds to tie; Grant is now out injured.

As at least 15-point road underdogs, the Pistons have actually won two of their past eight straight up (including earlier this month in Milwaukee) and covered in five overall in that span.
