The main event of opening night presents the two most interesting teams of the summer squaring off. While the Clippers are going to be quite good this season once Kawhi and Paul George get going, George isn't playing tonight. Even if he was, I'm not sure who the Clippers have who can stop Anthony Davis. Who is guarding him? Lay the points.

Both the Clippers and the Lakers added some star power to their rosters during the offseason, but the Clippers won’t have the services of Paul George (shoulder) out of the gate. The Lakers will also be playing shorthanded without Kyle Kuzma (foot). Still, I’ll take the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis to start out strong with a win and a cover.

There’s not much of a home-court edge here, and even though the Clippers are rated about a point higher than the Lakers, the Clippers get a reduction for not having Paul George in the lineup. The Clippers struggled in the preseason, and while I don’t care much about their 2-3 record, I am alarmed by them shooting just 43 percent from the field and 27 percent on 3-pointers.
